Online phishing reports have risen 466% from mid‑2024 to mid‑2025 and AI-generated scams have surged 456% because data is simply becoming easier and easier to access. At Northcoast Promotions, we are noticing more phishing scam posts originating within Facebook Groups targeting artists and makers. The scammers are promoting a recurring market or art walk, pretending to be the planners, but with different graphics than the real event. Their message indicates they have available booth space for new vendors at certain shows and that the starting point to apply is to email some fake person at a gmail address. This steers unsuspecting exhibitors to pay any dollar amount to an unauthorized entity and typically results in them filing a fraud claim with their credit card company.
