CLEVELAND (April 20, 2016) – Long known for its vibrant art scene, Tremont has reinvented its second Friday, the Tremont Artwalk, into ‘Walkabout Tremont,’ a weekend-long reveal of food, fashion and art. Walkabout Tremont kicks off Friday, May 13 with pop-up tents and street performers. Tremont galleries, restaurants and businesses will open their doors to pedestrians and patrons alike beginning at 6 p.m.
“#WalkaboutTremont is a re-imagination of the Tremont ArtWalk–a continuation of the artistic spirit and innovation Jean Brandt fostered for 23 years,” says Lynn Murray, president of the Tremont West Development Corporation. “The essence of Walkabout Tremont is a new emphasis on all that is creative in our community: gallery art, performance art, fashion, food, specialty retail and services, as well as our churches and local history.”
Murray says that a core group of 20 business owners, along with a few residents and Michelle Davis, assistant director of Tremont West Development Corporation, met for the past six months to plan an event that reflects the creative neighborhood Tremont has become.
“Tremont offers approximately 30 places to stay through Airbnb.com,” says Michelle Davis. “Our community is home to some of Cleveland’s best restaurants, shops and artists. Our historic churches are works of art. There’s always something new to discover,” she explains.
